Coming off the first ever national runner-up season last year, the men's DII ice hockey squad has positioned itself for another post-season run during the 2018-19 campaign.
The Lions are currently 13-4-0 and are ranked third in the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Men's Division II rankings behind Aquinas College in second with a mark of 7-2-0 and Marian University at the top spot with a perfect 18-0-0 record. Lindenwood has outscored opponents by a combined margin of 91-41.
The Lions offense is led by junior captain
Ty Ennis with 16 goals and 10 assists for 26 points total. He also leads the team in game-winning goals with four. Three juniors have scored eight times each including captain
Dylan Miller,
Kyle Van Wyk, and
Nick Schnelle. Van Wyk has also added 11 assists for 19 points overall, the same as
Alex Klaesner with 19 points on seven goals and 12 assists. Junior defenseman
Michael Schrader leads defensive players with 16 points on five goals and 11 assists.
After leading Lindenwood to the brink of a national championship last season, junior goaltender Joshua Martin has come to play again this year, posting an 8-4 record with a 2.56 goals against average. He's made 263 saves while giving up only 31 goals for an .895 save percentage.
The Lions wrap up the fall semester with three games in the next week, starting with a two-game series against Depaul University November 30 and December 1. The puck will drop at 8:30 p.m. Friday night and again at 1:10 p.m. Saturday afternoon at Johnny's Icehouse West in Chicago. A single contest is scheduled for December 6 against McKendree, with the opening faceoff at 7:30 p.m. at the McKendree Ice Arena in Lebanon, Illinois.
