LINDENWOOD Notes:
Lindenwood men's volleyball opens the 2019 season on Jan. 11 with a home match against Charleston at 7 p.m. The Lions then host 2018 national runner-up UCLA at Hyland on Jan. 12 at 7:30 p.m.

The 2018 Lions finished the season 9-16 with a 3-11 mark in MIVA matches. Lindenwood returns 2018 All-MIVA setter Adam Brewster and 2019 Preseason All-MIVA honoree Connor Hipelius for the 2019 season.

Brewster was one of the top setters in the NCAA last season. He ranked fourth in MIVA with 9.78 assists per set. Against Princeton on March 20, Brewster tallied 63 assists, the third-highest single-match total in the NCAA this season and a Lindenwood single match record for the NCAA era.

Hipelius was one of the Lions' top hitters last year, notching 1.96 kills per set and hitting .387 (fifth in the MIVA and 10th in NCAA). Defensively, Hipelius was second in the MIVA with 1.16 blocks per set (eighth nationally).

Charleston Notes:
Charleston returns Max Senica and Brandon Greenway from last year's team. Senica posted 2.45 kills per set while Greenway had 2.01 kills per set in 2018. Middle blocker Adriel Roberts also returns for the Golden Eagles after posting 96 blocks last season.

UCLA Notes:
UCLA fell to Long Beach State in last year's NCAA Championship match, finishing the year 26-8 overall. They return a pair of All-Americans in setter Micah Ma'a (56 aces last season) and middle blocker Daenan Gyimah (NCAA leader in hitting percentage at .528) who won the 2018 Ryan Millar Award for the nation's top middle attacker.

UCLA is led by head coach John Speraw, who also coaches the US Men's National Team. He is the only men's volleyball player to win a national championship as a player, assistant coach and head coach.
