The Lions breezed through the first round with a 26-3 win over the University of Pittsburgh Friday morning at the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Men's Collegiate Club Championship at the Trees Hall Fitness Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Lindenwood posted 17 unanswered goals in the first half as 14 different Lions made their mark on the scoresheet, led by 
Jorge Oliveros with five.  
Nikola Vukic had three markers while 
Branislav Stojiljkovic, 
Vuk Budrak, 
Jamie Gambin, 
Guillermo Aguirre, 
Marino Chorro, and 
Ratimir Babic each scored twice.  Six other players registered one goal for Lindenwood.  
Marcel Farres stopped four shots in three quarters of work in goal while 
Colt Correa made a single save in the final seven minutes for the Lions, who went 9-11 in advantage opportunities while holding the Panthers scoreless of six man-advantage chances.
With the victory, Lindenwood advanced to the second round against No. 9 ranked Michigan State.   The Spartans stopped No. 11 Boston College 14-7 Friday night.  The two programs have a combined eight national championships with the Lions claiming five and Michigan State three.  The opening sprint is scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday morning.
