Men's Lacrosse Takes Down No. 10 Colorado Mesa in Season-Opening win

Box Score GAME OVERVIEW
The Lindenwood men's lacrosse team secured a 16-10 season-opening victory over No. 10 Colorado Mesa on Saturday afternoon from Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo. Lindenwood never trailed during the wire-to-wire victory, scoring eight goals in each half to outlast the visiting Mavericks.

Lindenwood led 6-2 at the end of the first quarter, including an unassisted goal as time expired by Garret Brunsvold.

The Lions were outscored by the Mavericks during the second quarter, 3-2, but still managed to hold an 8-5 edge entering halftime.

Lindenwood had a dominant third quarter in which it scored three times and held Colorado Mesa scoreless. Carter Collins capped off the quarter for Lindenwood by scoring his fourth goal of the day with just 17 seconds remaining, helping the Lions to carry an 11-5 lead into the final quarter of play.

Each time found the back of the net five times in the final frame, as Lindenwood protected its lead en route to a 16-10 victory.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Carter Collins netted a career-high four goals in the game to pace the Lion offense.
- Lindenwood received hat tricks from Sean Darroch and Grant Glazier, and a two-goal effort fom Garrett Brunsvold.
- Leonard Jones scored one goal and had two assists, while Mathieu Jung also dished out two assists.
- Michael Miocic set the tone on the draws for the Lions, winning 18 of his 28 faceoffs.
- Landon Schuster and Connor Ciemiewicz shared the duties in net, with each netminder playing one half. Schuster made five saves to earn the win, while Ciemiewicz added four saves.
- Bryan Bevelhimer and Chase Showalter anchored the Lindenwood defense with two caused turnovers apiece.

Lindenwood will return to action next Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. as they host Lincoln Memorial from Hunter Stadium.
