The Midwest Independent Conference (MIC) held its annual banquet on Thursday night, and announced its 2019 award winners. The banquet is always held the night before the MIC Championships, which will be on Friday evening at 6:00 p.m. from the Gold Dome in Shreveport, La.
Â
At the banquet, Lindenwood's three assistant coaches;
Brittany Harris,
Becky Colvin, and
Cody Llewellyn were recognized as the MIC Assistant Coaches of the Year. For the Lions, it marks the second consecutive season in which their assistant coaching staff has earned the distinction.
Â
Lindenwood's trio of assistant coaches are each in their first seasons with the team, coming together as a staff just before the season began. Prior to the 2019 season, the three coaches had combined for just two total years of gymnastics coaching experience. What the staff lacked in experience, it made up for in heart and determination. Each coach has played an integral part in the team's success and each has been able to connect with and mentor the student-athletes in a positive manner.
Â
Lindenwood has competed at a high level throughout the season, and currently ranks second in the MIC and 37th nationally with an RQS of 195.300. The Lions lead the MIC with an RQS of 48.830 on vault and 48.855 on beam.
Â
Also at the banquet, the seniors for each team were recognized for their careers, and the winners of the MIC Scholar-Athlete Awards were announced. Lindenwood had 18 winners of the MIC Scholar-Athlete Award, which goes to each gymnast with a 3.25 GPA or higher for the Fall 2018 semester:
