It was announced on Tuesday afternoon that a trio of Lindenwood men's basketball players had received all-MIAA accolades.
Brad Newman was tabbed as a second-team all-MIAA performer,
Chandler Diekvoss was named to the honorable mention all-MIAA squad, and
TJ Crockett was an MIAA all-defense honorable mention selection.
Newman led Lindenwood in scoring during the 2018-19 regular season, averaging 21.1 points per game. A product of Milwaukee, Wis., Newman surpassed the 20-point plateau in 16 different games this season, and eclipsed 30 points on five occasions. All five of Newman's 30-point performances this season occurred against MIAA foes. During his 19 games against conference opponents this season, the senior guard averaged an MIAA-leading 23.5 points per game. Newman was an honorable mention all-MIAA selection following the 2017-18 campaign.
Diekvoss was the second leading scorer for the Lions this season, averaging 15.4 points per game, which ranked 15th in the MIAA. The DePere, Wis. native was Lindenwood's leading rebounder this season and finished eighth in the conference in total rebounding, securing an average of 6.7 rebounds per game. Throughout the season, the senior forward collected a team-leading six double-double performances, four of which came against MIAA opponents. Diekvoss shot a career-high 55.1 percent from the field this season, the second-best shooting percentage among all qualified shooters in the MIAA. This was the third time in his career that Diekvoss received all-MIAA honors.
Crockett took a step forward on both ends of the court for the Lions during the 2018-19 season. A native of University City, Mo., Crockett established new career-high marks in several defensive categories including steals (17), blocks (10) and rebounds per game (1.8). The sophomore guard had an impact for Lindenwood down the stretch, averaging 24.0 minutes per game over the final nine contests of the season. In those nine games, Crockett led the team in steals and blocks.
Lindenwood will face Southwest Baptist in the first round of the 2019 MIAA Men's Basketball Championship on Wednesday afternoon at 2:15 p.m. from Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Mo.
