The Lindenwood women's hockey team (4-16-3, 2-10-0 CHA) will take on Minnesota State (8-14-5, 3-12-3 WCHA) in a two-game series starting on Friday at 7:07 p.m. in Mankato, Minn.
The Lions are coming off two-straight losses to Robert Morris last weekend.Â
Courtney Ganske scored the only goal for the Lions in the weekend series, marking her first of the season.Â
Sierra Burt tallied the primary assist to capture her eighth point in the last seven games. The Bayfield, Ontario native is now the team leader in assists with eight, while bringing her season point total to 11, which is tied with
Megan Wagner for the team lead. Wagner has scored a team-best four goals, while dishing out seven assists.
Annika Asplundh has been a key contributor to the success of the Lions, as she is posting a 2.84 goals against average with a .923 save percentage. Asplundh has been good for nearly 30 saves per game in her 18 contests. In seven games this season, Asplundh has allowed one goal or less, including two recent shutouts against RIT.
Lindenwood is looking for its first win over Minnesota State since December 9, 2017 when the Lions defeated the Mavericks 4-1 in Mankato, Minn. In the last 11 meetings, Lindenwood is 4-5-2 against Minnesota State.
The Mavericks are coming off a 3-1 loss to Bemidji State last weekend. Minnesota State opens up a six-game home stand on Friday, before closing out its season on the road against Minnesota. Lindenwood and Minnesota State will faceoff for the 24th and 25th times since the two teams began play in 2011. The Mavericks hold the series advantage with a record of 17-4-2.
Minnesota State swept the Lions last year, as both games were decided by one goal. Lindenwood split its season series with Minnesota State in 2017, as it earned a 4-1 win after losing the first game by just one goal. The Lions have won four games in the series history, three of which have come in Mankato, Minn.
