Lindenwood swimming & diving closed out the Drury Invitational on Saturday, in Springfield, Mo. The women's team finished with a 1,363-1,218 victory over Drury. The men fell to the Panthers, 1,569-1,215, in the 40 event meet.
DAY 1 WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
- Marit De Lau, Stephanie Marks, McKayla Siemiller, and Lexie Winnett secured 34 points for the Lions with a finals time of 1:34.67 in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, as they finished second.
- Leticia Rodrigues captured second place in the 500 Yard Freestyle, earning 17 points for Lindenwood.
- Beata Maruszczyk and Shelby Kasse finished first and second, respectively, in the 200 Yard IM. Maruszczyk earned 20 points as she recorded a time of 2:03.47, while Kasse notched a time of 2:07.26 and gained 17 points.
- In the 400 Yard Medley Relay, De Lau, Marks, Maruszczyk, and Winnett combined for a first-place finish, with a time of 3:45.09, while gaining 40 points for the Lions.
- After day one of the Drury Invitational, the Lindenwood women's team leads, 489-427.
DAY 1 MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
- Jerry Brown, Elliot Irwin, Zach Linder, and Patryk Winiatowski secured second-place in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, gaining 34 points.
- Melker Olsson and Vincent Jaworski finished first and second, respectively, in the 500 Yard Freestyle for the Lions. Olsson earned 20 points after recording a time of 4:31.67, and Jaworski notched 17 points with a time of 4:33.05.
- In the 200 Yard IM, Winiatowski came in second, with a time of 1:49.02. This placing earned the Lions 17 more points to add to their total.
- Jordan Anderson, Brown, Linder, and Winiatowski raced in the 400 Yard Medley Relay, placing second and earning 34 points. The four finished with a time of 3:18.34.
- After day one, the men's team trails, 484-414.
DAY 2 WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
- In the first event, the 3 Meter Dive, Elle Christie finished first among all competitors with a 228.75, garnering 20 points for Lindenwood.
- Christie also earned first-place in the 1 Meter Dive, with a score of 464.77. Katie Werkema, Taylor Seilheimer, and Chloe Pearson joined Christie in the top-4, respectively. The four Lindenwood divers earned the team a cumulative of 68 points in the event.
- In the 50 Yard Freestyle, Winnett was the sole Lion to finish top-3. She earned 16 points with her time of 23.80.
- Adding to their success for the weekend, Marks, Maruszczyk, Siemiller, and Winnett combined for a first-place placing in the 200 Yard Medley Relay. The four swimmers finished with a finals time of 1:43.04, and 40 points.
- Lyssa Wood and Jana Hellenschmidt finished first and second in the 400 Yard IM. Wood recorded a time of 4:28.16, while Hellenschmidt finished in 4:30.42.
- Winnett raced in the 100 Yard Butterfly for the Lions, coming in second, with a time of 56.78.
- Maruszczyk earned another first-place finish, this time in the 200 Yard Freestyle, where she notched a time of 1:50.95.
- Maruszczyk and Winnett finished first and second, respectively, in the 100 Yard Breaststroke. Maruszczyk finished in 1:02.91, while Winnett recorded a time of 1:05.44.
- Marks finished the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 55.94, putting her in second place for the event. She also earned second in the 200 Yard Backstroke, with a time of 2:01.27.
- In the 1000 Yard Freestyle, Rodrigues earned Lindenwood 17 points with a second-place clocking of 10:07.70.
- In the 35th event of the meet, Maruszczyk came in first-place with a time of 2:15.22.
DAY 2 MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
- Dylan Callaghan finished second in the 3 Meter Dive for the Lions, with a finals score of 230.78, which earned the team 17 points.
- Callaghan finished second in the 1 Meter Dive, with a finals score of 399.07. Noah Boyd and Tyler Arthur finished third and fourth, respectively, for the team.
- Jan Hanzal came in second in the 400 Yard IM for Lindenwood, with a time of 3:57.60, while securing 17 points.
- Evan Root and Jaworski both finished in the top-2 for the men in the 200 Yard Freestyle. Jaworski finished first, with a finals time of 1:40.16, while Root came in second in 1:41.40.
- Brown finished first for the men in the 100 Yard Breaststroke, with a finals time of 55.10. This earned the Lions 20 points.
- Jaworski (9:27.10), Olsson (9:32.03), and Hanzal (9:36.38) came in second, third, and fourth for Lindenwood in the 1000 Yard Freestyle.
- Wiktor Kedzia finished in second for Lindenwood in the 200 Yard Backstroke, as he recorded a time of 1:46.82.
- Brown secured first-place in the 200 Yard Breastroke, finishing in 1:59.93, and receiving 20 points.
