Lindenwood swimming & diving won on both the women's and men's side at the Delta State Christmas Invitational, which capped off four days of events on Tuesday. Both squads finished with a score of 2,476 points in Cleveland, Miss.
DAY 1 WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
- In event one of the meet, Camilla Rimmereide, Jana Hellenschmidt, Beata Maruszczyk, and Meredith Riegler finished 1st in the 800 Yard Freestyle Relay with a finals time of 7:32.19, earning 64 points.
- Shelby Kasse, Leticia Rodrigues, Ashley Richard, and Lexie Winnett finished in 3rd in the 800 Yard Freestyle Relay, earning 54 points, with a time of 7:24.11.
- The Lions took 1st in the 200 Yard Medley Relay as Stephanie Marks, Maruszczyk, Winnett, and McKayla Siemiller earned 64 points with a time of 1:42.74.
- Rodrigues and Hellenschmidt finished 1st and 2nd, respectively, in the 1000 Yard Freestyle. The two earned a combined 60 points for Lindenwood.
- Elle Christie took 1st in the 1 Meter Dive, recording a score of 465.67.
DAY 1 MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
- Vince Jaworski came in 1st with a finals time of 9:17.09 in the 1000 Yard Freestyle, earning 32 points.
- Matheo Mateos-Mongelos (9:21.51), Jan Hanzal (9:27.31), Nico Heye (9:34.82), Melker Olsson (9:36.49), and Tait Harvey (9:39.12) finished 2nd-7th, respectively, earning a total of 125 for the men's squad in the 1000 Yard Freestyle.
- In the 200 Yard Medley Relay, Mateos-Mongelos, Gerald Brown, Elliott Irwin, and Zach Linder earned 1st-place with a time of 1:28.08. The quad earned 64 points for the Lions.
- In the 800 Yard Freestyle Relay, the Lions earned 1st and 2nd place, totaling 120 points. Linder, Jaworski, Evan Root, and Mateos-Mongelos secured 1st. Irwin, Olsson, Hanzal, and Wiktor Kedzia came in 2nd place.
DAY 2 WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
- Rodrigues (4:53.71) and Hellenschmidt (4:54.86) finished 1st and 2nd, respectively, in the 500 Yard Freestyle.
- Maruszczyk won the 200 Yard IM with a time of 2:01.36.
- Winnett, Marks, and Siemiller took the top-3 spots in the 50 Yard Freestyle.
- For the second-straight day, Lindenwood took 1st in a Medley Relay, this time in the 400 Yard. Marks, Maruszczyk, Winnett, and de Lau finished with a time of 3:43.61 earning 64 points.
- In the final event of the night, the 3 Meter Dive, Christie took 1st with a point total of 456.52.
DAY 2 MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
- The Lions earned the top-3 spots in the 500 Yard Freestyle as Jaworski (4:27.28), Olsson (4:28.68), and Hanzal (4:33.02) earned a combined 87 points.
- Irwin and Linder secured 1st and 2nd in the 50 Yard Freestyle for the team.
- Kedzia, Brown, Irwin, and Linder finished the 400 Yard Medley Relay with a finals time of 3:14.34 for 1st place.
DAY 3 WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
- Winnett came in 2nd in the 100 Yard Butterfly with a time of 54.86.
- In the 400 Yard IM, all five of the top-5 finishers were Lindenwood swimmers, led by Hellenschmidt with a 1st place time of 4:24.55.
- Maruszczyk, Rimmereide, and Rodrigues finished 1st through 3rd for Lindenwood in the 200 Yard Freestyle.
- Maruszczyk continued her success with a 1st place finish in the 100 Yard Breaststroke, earning 32 points with a time of 1:02.06.
- Marks secured the top spot in the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 54.35, tying a Delta State pool record.
- Marks, Maruszczyk, Siemiller, and Winnett combined for a 1st place finish in the 200 Yard Freestyle, earning 64 points for the squad.
DAY 3 MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
- Irwin was the sole Lindenwood swimmer in the top-5 in the 100 Yard Butterfly, finishing 1st with a time of 47.15, setting a Delta State pool record.
- Mateos-Mongelos and Hanzal finished 1st and 2nd, respectively, in the 400 Yard IM.
- Jaworski secured 1st place in the 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 1:37.63. Root, Olsson, and Kedzia joined Jaworski in the top-4.
- In the 100 Yard Breaststroke, Brown, Linder, Brooks Cosman, and Ole Tharandt all finished in the top-4 for the Lions.
- Linder, Cosman, Irwin, and Brown finished 1st in the 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 1:19.84.
DAY 4 WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
- Rodrigues finished 1st in the 1650 Yard Freestyle with a time of 16:50.22.
- The top-4 in the 200 Yard Backstroke were highlighted by Lions, with Marks, Kasse, Riegler, and Emily Massengale finishing 1-4.
- Winnett and de Lau finished 1st and 2nd, respectively, in the 100 Yard Freestyle.
- Maruszczyk continued her dominance at the Delta State Christmas Invitational with a win in the 200 Yard Backstroke.
- To cap off the final women's event of the invitational, Winnett, de Lau, Marks, and Maruszczyk secured 1st place in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay.
DAY 4 MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
- Jaworski secured the top spot with a time of 15:28.52 in the 1650 Yard Freestyle.
- Irwin won the 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 43.54.
- Brown finished 1st in the 200 Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:56.93, earning 32 points.
- The final victory for the Lions came in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay, where the quad-combo of Root, Mateos-Mongelos, Linder, and Irwin secured the top-placing with a time of 2:57.16.
