The Lindenwood women's hockey team (5-20-3, 3-12-0 CHA) lost a tough one to Syracuse (11-16-2, 9-4-2 CHA) by a 3-2 margin on Friday night in Syracuse, N.Y.

GAME OVERVIEW
The Lions faced 14 shots in the opening period, including five while on the penalty kill.Â
Annika Asplundh made all 14 saves in the period, keeping it at a 0-0 deadlock in the first of a two game series. The pace of play picked up in the second period, as the Orange jumped on the board with a goal at the 2:51 mark. Asplundh made 18 saves in the second frame, but Syracuse netted its second goal of the game with less than two minutes remaining in the period to take a two-goal lead into the third.

Sierra Burt and
Bailey Coyne found a way to rally in the third period, as Burt scored at the 6:05 mark with Coyne earning the assist. The two worked their way to the game-tying goal, as each assisted on
Cierra Paisley's goal with 9:05 remaining in the game. With a penalty kill nearing the end, Syracuse was able to find the back of the net to break the tie with just 3:31 to go.

The Lions could not find the equalizer in the 3-2 loss in the first game of the weekend series. Asplundh made 47 saves on the night, marking the fourth time this season she has stopped 40 or more shots. Burt brought her season point total to 15, after scoring her sixth goal and dishing out her ninth assist.
