Women's Swimming & Diving (Discontinued)

Swimming and Diving Teams Finish Out Strong at GLVC Championships

The GLVC Swimming and Diving Championships came to an end on Saturday afternoon and the Lions finished out strong in Crawfordsville, Indiana. The men finished the event in fourth place with a team score of 1233, while the women earned third place with a total score of 1599. On the fourth and final day of competition the Lions posted some of their best races, broke another school record, and achieved 27 personal best times.

On the women's side, Leticia Rodrigues finished the 1650 freestyle in 3rd place with a time of 16:52.02. Jana Hellenschmidt finished the event in 5th place with a time of 17:03.77. Kamila Kunka finished the 100 freestyle in 3rd place with a time of 51.63. Stephanie Marks finished the 200 backstroke in 5th with a time of 2:00.64. Beata Maruszczyk finished the 200 breaststroke in 2nd place with a final time of 2:13.93. The women's 400 freestyle relay team finished in 3rd place with a time of 3:26.53

On the men's side, Angel Regalado Santiago finished the 1650 freestyle in 3rd place with a time of 15:25.95. Niels Engeln was close behind, finishing in 4th with a time of 15:30.06. Patryk Winiatowski finished the 100 freestyle in 3rd with a time of 44.29, while Zach Linder finished the event in 5th with a time of 44.82. Melker Olsson finished the 200 backstroke in 3rd with a final time of 1:47.40. Maxime Eekhof had a standout performance in the 200 breaststroke, finishing the event in 1st place with a time of 1:59.13. The men's 400 freestyle relay team finished in 3rd place with a time of 2:59.10.

The Lions definitely made their mark during their first GLVC appearance. Freshmen Beata Maruszczyk was awarded GLVC Female Freshmen of the Year. Maruszczyk scored more points than any other female freshmen at the meet, scoring a total of 102 points.
 
More than 100 lifetime bests were achieved over the four days of competition and the Lions are excited for their future championships within this conference. Some of our Lions are officially done for the season while others are gearing up for the NCAA National Championship in Geneva, Ohio March 11th through the 14th.
