Ryan Henry Earns MIC Senior of the Year Honors

Lindenwood gymnastics senior Ryan Henry has earned MIC Senior of the Year honors, the league announced on Friday.

Henry competed as the all-around in nine of the Lions' 10 meets, including a season-high score of 39.175 against Air Force and Southeast Missouri State on March 6. In a meet against top-20 teams Minnesota and Missouri, as well as top-35 Ohio State, Henry finished with an all-around score of 39.025 to help lead Lindenwood to its first ever win over Ohio State in program history.

Henry is no stranger to MIC awards, after being named the MIC Gymnast of the Week for her showing against Air Force and Southeast Missouri State. She also captured MIC Performance of the Week accolades earlier in the season, for her career-high tying score of 9.900 on the beam against Eastern Michigan on Feb. 2.

In the meet against Minnesota, Missouri, and Ohio State, Henry tied her career-high score of 9.800 on the vault. She also was able to match her career-high on the floor, with a score of 9.900 against Air Force and Southeast Missouri State. Henry is the only senior MIC gymnast to achieve scores of 9.900 or higher on multiple events this season.

Henry displayed a strong level of consistency in virtually every meet and event she competed in this season, and her career. On the beam during the season, she scored a 9.825 or higher in three different meets, and on the floor she scored a 9.800 or higher in four meets. Twice in 2020, Henry was the top-scoring all around in the meet that she participated in.

In the last two seasons, Henry has competed as the all-around in 24 of 25 meets that she participated in. In her career, she has scored a 39.000 or higher as an all-around in 10 meets, which includes a career-high seven times during the 2019 season. Four times in Henry's career, she has scored a 9.850 or higher on the bars, and twice in her career she has scored a 9.900 on the beam. Henry has scored a 9.900 on the floor twice, with her mark forever being etched into the Lindenwood record books.

Last season, she was a first-team All-MIC in the all-around, on the beam, and on the floor. She was also a second-team All-MIC on the bars and the vault in the 2019 season. But Henry's accolades did not end there, as she was also named a USA Gymnastics first-team All-American on the beam during the 2019 season, which was the second time in her career she captured those honors.

"I am thrilled for Ryan earning the MIC Senior Athlete of the Year award. This is a great honor and something she is very deserving of," said Head Coach Jen Llewellyn. "Ryan competed in every single meet of her four year career and has been a rock and a reliable athlete for this team. Her consistency, unwavering commitment, and drive to play her role has been admirable."
