The Lindenwood cross country teams opened the 2020 season at the GLVC Dual Meet, going up against conference-foe Maryville, on Friday.
Najwa Chouati helped lead the women to a first-place finish, 15-50, as she finished the 4k event with a time of 15:09.79.
Louis Moreau finished first for the men in the 6k race with a time of 19:41.57, as they won, 17-38.
RECAPPING THE RUNNERS FOR THE WOMEN
- The first seven runners to finish the 4k race for the women all belonged to Lindenwood, led by Chouati, who secured the first-place position.
- Rachael Morrison set a career-best time for a 4k, finishing in 15:33.50.
- A trio of freshmen finished in the top-7 for Lindenwood. Kirsten Huffman (16:05.61), Courtney Reid (16:47.32), and Sydney Reid (17:10.90) all earned top-7 spots.
- Athena Viers (16:16.29) and Nadia Pulliam (16:30.05) finished 4th and 5th, respectively, for the Lions.
- Abby Dishner (11th, 18:24.16) and Emma Hubbell (12th, 18:28.70) rounded out the runners for the women's squad.
RECAPPING THE RUNNERS FOR THE MEN
- Four Lions finished in the top four in the 6k event, with Moreau securing the top spot, finishing in 19:41.57.
- The three runners to join Moreau in the top-4 were Ben Stasney (19:59.76), Bramwell Havi (20:07.91), and Edward Kipruto (20:11.88), respectively.
- Freshmen Timothy Maxwell (7th, 20:49.09) and Matt Case (15th, 23:12.39) completed their first-career races for the Lions. Havi and Kipruto were also competing in their first collegiate events for Lindenwood.
- Jered Nolie (13th, 22:44.07), Benjamin Evers (14th, 23:08.45), and William Wallis (17th, 23:34.14) rounded out the men's lineup.
