Women's ACHA ice hockey dropped a two-game series to Liberty University October 2-3 at the Lahaya Ice Center in Lynchburg, Virginia.
The Lions fell 7-2 to the Flames on Saturday.
Kim Turcotte scored for Lindenwood in the opening period, but Liberty held a 2-1 lead after one. The Flames added another three goals in the second period for a 5-1 advantage.
Kennedy Frank added another tally for the Lions in the third, but Liberty doubled up Lindenwood in the period for the final margin.
Sixty minutes wasn't enough to settle the second game of the series on Sunday as it went to overtime, but the Flames once again prevailed.
The Lions took an early lead in the contest when
Risa Shatford sounded the horn off a feed from
Sydney Odowichuk at 2:04 of the first, but Liberty tied the game with just over six-minutes remaining in the period. After a scoreless second period, the Flames jumped in front 2-1 with 7:27 remaining in regulation. Lindenwood was able to respond and tie the game on freshman
Rylee Gee's first collegiate goal with 3:18 left on the clock, assisted by
Kim Turcotte and
Kennedy Frank. That set up bonus hockey, but Liberty only needed a few minutes of overtime to get the game-winner.
With the losses, the Lions dropped to 1-2-1 overall and to 0-1-1 in Women's Midwest Collegiate Hockey (WMCH) action. Lindenwood returns to the ice for a single WMCH contest against Maryville University across town October 9. The puck drops at 7:15 p.m. Saturday night at the Maryville Hockey Center in Chesterfield, Missouri.
