Senior defender
Annick Giebels has been selected to the 2021 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II Senior Team, as announced by the organization on Monday.
Giebels, from Bloemendoal, Netherlands, has appeared in 39 games as a Lion, while making 33 starts. Giebles recorded 10 points in her career on two goals and six assists, while attempting 22 shots, including nine on goal.
All three Division II conferences and two NCAA regions that sponsor field hockey are represented on the list of 2021 honorees. The selected student-athletes were nominated by their NFHCA member coach and were chosen based on their career accomplishments.
The 2021 NFHCA Senior Games were cancelled due to limitations caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, but coaches were given the opportunity to announce the name of their Senior Team honoree(s). Seniors are nominated by their NFHCA-member coaches and selected by an NFHCA committee. The committee selects a group of participants as well as a list of alternates.
The NFHCA is a nonprofit organization serving field hockey coaches and supporters of the game from across the United States. The mission of the organization is to stimulate the professional development of coaching leadership within the sport of field hockey. The NFHCA strives to cultivate and recognize the professional contributions of its membership and to foster and promote the growth of the sport. The NFHCA is responsible for providing a recognizable presence and voice in regard to legislation affecting the sport as well as interscholastic and intercollegiate programs.
