Lions Divers Dominate Delta Invite

The Lindenwood men's and women's diving teams dominated the pool this past weekend at the 4th Annual Delta Dive Invite in Cleveland, Mississippi. Lindenwood divers won three of the four individual events, leading both the men's and women's teams to titles in the team competition.

David Molina-Fregenal, a freshman from Spain, swept both the 1 meter and 3 meter competition and posted qualifying scores in both events for the NCAA Championships in March. In the men's 3 meter, Molina-Fregenal qualified second, but bounced back in the finals to score 550.72 which was over 40 points higher than his qualifying score and established a new Lindenwood school record, besting the old record of Colin Sharpe of 543.45 set in 2012.

On the women's side, returning first team all-american Elle Christie won the 1 meter with a score of 463.50, while fellow Lion Katie Werkema finished second with a score of 414.68.  Both Christie and Werkema score's qualified for the NCAA Championships.

Freshman diver Max Roth finished third in the 1 meter event, but his score of 447.44 in the preliminary round also qualified him for nationals.

The Lindenwood swimmers will return to the pool when they travel back down to Mississippi for the Delta State Christmas Invitational on December 11.
