Women's ACHA hockey suffered its first sweep of the season, falling to Midland University 3-2 in overtime Sunday afternoon at Sidner Arena in Fremont, Nebraska. The Lions actually had a 2-0 lead at one point, but the Warriors came storming back late.
The first Lindenwood goal came off the blade of
Marissa Delry on a play set up by
Risa Shatford and
Dakota McAlpine at the 14:33 mark of the first period. The Lions added their second tally on the power play with 6:41 remaining in the second when Shatford hit the back of the net after a great feed from
MacKenzie Drost, but Midland completely changed momentum with an even-strength goal with only one second remaining in the period. The Warriors tied the contest with 6:40 left in regulation, and won it in overtime at the 3:08 mark of the extra time.
With the loss, Lindenwood dropped to 12-5-0 overall and to 8-5-0 in Women's Midwest College Hockey (WMCH) action. The WMCH Tournament runs from March 26-28 at the Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Missouri.
