Women's rugby earned a comprehensive 77-5 win over Brigham Young University (BYU) Saturday in Provo, Utah.
The Lions took the opportunity to see several new players increase their roles with more minutes as the coaches mixed up the roster to see who would take advantage of the added opportunity. With the victory, Lindenwood completed its regular season with a perfect 4-0 record.
Head Coach
Billy Nicholas looked forward to the D1 Elite Playoffs.
"We aren't taking any opponent lightly heading into the knock-out rounds of playoffs because each match is win or go home," he stated. "We gave the team a few days off from training this week to rejuvenate and will look to get back to work with some laser-like focus on some little things as we head into the semifinal match up. We have a great group of seniors here that are looking to leave their mark and put a stamp on their legacy before they exit and I'm excited to see them empty the tank."
Women's rugby enters the XV's D1 Elite Playoffs as the No. 1 seed and will host the winner of a BYU versus Penn State match on April 17. The opening kickoff for the semifinal on Lindenwood Senior Day is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Missouri. Prior to the playoff game, the Lions second XV squad will host Palmer at 1 p.m. that Saturday afternoon, also at Hunter Stadium.
