ST. CHARLES, MO.- Lindenwood Women's Rugby defeated Dartmouth in a rainy matchup on Saturday by a score of 12-5.
Dartmouth struck first in the middle of the first half and would miss the conversion to take the 5-0 lead. Later on in the half,
Freda Tafuna ran from 30 yards out to tie the match at five, trucking her way through two defenders to get into the end zone. The score would remain at five a piece at the break.
In the second half, the Lions would score the game-winning try in the 61
st minute as
Jasmine Fehoko scored from one yard out to give Lindenwood the 10-5 lead. Tafuna added two more points on the conversion to put the Lions in front 12-5 and Lindenwood held onto the lead for the remainder of the second half to improve to 6-1 on the season.
"With the change in time and location, it was a pleasure to watch our team take everything in stride today." said Head coach
Trevor Locke. "On Senior/Family Day, the team came out after the delay and we were able to win a hard fought match against a quality team in Dartmouth."
With the win over Dartmouth, the Lions will be hosting the semifinal round of the NIRA tournament on Saturday, November 15. The final match of the regular season will be next Saturday, October 25 at 10 a.m. as Lindenwood will host Davenport University at the Lindenwood Track Complex.
