Cheerleading won both the Small Coed Open and Intermediate Small Coed Open titles and came close to a trifecta with a second-place finish in the Large Coed Open division at the NCA/NDA Collegiate Cheer and Dance Team Championships April 8-10 in Daytona Beach, Florida.
In the small coed competition, the Lions posted the highest overall performance score in the preliminary round with a mark of 93.5667. That put Lindenwood ahead of Limestone University in second and Gannon University in third.
In the finals, the Lions performed a near flawless routine without any deductions and improved to a score of 95.2667 to claim the top spot, over three points ahead of second place Tarlton State. Lindenwood received perfect ratings in crowd leading and collegiate image, and received a 9.8 in choreography. The Lions also earned strong marks in tumbling, jumps, tosses, and pyramids.

It was a similar road to the trophy in the Intermediate Small Coed Open division. Lindenwood completed prelims in first place with a overall score of 95.3167, ahead of Pratt Community College in second and the University of Texas – Dallas in third. Â
In the finals, the Lions improved on their initial performance for a total event score of 96.4292, nearly four points ahead of second place Pratt CC and third place Texas – Dallas. Lindenwood received perfect ratings in crowd leading and collegiate image, earned a 9.8 in overall effect and 9.7 in choreography, and high marks in every other category across the board.
The Lions led the Large Coed Open division after the preliminary round with a score of 91.95 to lead Southwest Christian University in second and Columbus State University in third. Lindenwood improved its raw score in the finals, but several deductions left the Lions just over two points behind eventual champion Southwest Christian.
The two national titles became the eighth and ninth overall in Lindenwood cheerleading program history. The Lions won large coed division crowns in 2019, 2018, 2017, and 2015, and captured the Small Coed Division II championship in 2018, the Small Coed Division II in 2016, and Small Coed in 2011.
