Women's ACHA hockey dropped its final game of pool play 2-0 to Midland at the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Women's Division I National Championship at Maysa Arena in Minot, North Dakota.
Shots on goal were relatively even with Lindenwood being outshot just 30 to 26, but the Lions could never figure out the Midland netminder. The Warriors took an early 1-0 lead in the first five minutes of the first period, and that's where the score remained through most of regulation. Lindenwood was forced to pull goaltender
Maia Busi in the waning moments of the third period, and that's when Midland scored its second goal and the clincher with 51-seconds remaining. Busi only gave up one goal in 29 shots faced, but that proved to be the game-winner.
With the loss, the Lions fell to 13-9-0 overall. As the National Championship continues, the Lions next face Minot State Sunday afternoon. The puck drops at 1 p.m. at Maysa Arena in Minot, North Dakota.
