Softball Can't Find Rhythm in Doubleheader Losses Against Missouri-St.Louis

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Lindenwood softball (20-10-1, 13-9 GLVC) suffered a sweep to Missouri-St. Louis (17-21, 12-12 GLVC) on Saturday.

GAME ONE RECAP
Stormee Galka got the game one start for Lindenwood, pitching 3.2 innings, and allowing two earned runs in the no decision. Galka struck out three batters and did not walk a Triton. Marina Esparza was the first Lion on in relief, going 0.2 innings, and letting up one earned run. Amanda Weyh received the loss in the contest after giving up one run in 2.2 innings.

The Lindenwood offense score three runs in the first game on seven hits, while also walking three times. The Lions scored all three runs in the second and third innings, with one run coming in the second on a Galka single up the middle that brought home Megan Clark, and two in the third on a Hannah Johnson home run to left field and a Morgan Gersch double into the left center gap.

The Lions would be held scoreless throughout the remainder of the game, losing 4-3, as the Tritons would score the final four runs in the game, all unanswered. Missouri-St. Louis finished with one less hit than Lindenwood in the opener.

GAME TWO RECAP
Amanda Weyh started the second game of the doubleheader for Lindenwood. Weyh pitched all seven innings, allowing two earned runs, and striking out five.

The Lindenwood offense started off the scoring early in the first, as the first two Lions batter reached base in the game. Ceairra Perez scored the first run of the game on a fielder's choice sacrifice bunt off the bat of Megan Clark. Missouri-St. Louis would respond, however, in the bottom of the second with a solo shot to left field and a single up the middle to go up, 2-1.

Weyh would fire off five-consecutive scoreless innings, setting the Tritons down in order in the third, fourth, sixth, and seventh innings, and retiring nine batters in a row before allowing an infield base hit in the top of the fifth.

The Lions could not find a rhythm on offense, marking the second-straight game where the team did not score past the third inning, falling in sweep fashion to UMSL.
