The six seed Lindenwood softball team (23-13-1, 16-12 GLVC) will take on third-seeded Drury (25-14, 9-9 GLVC) on Thursday at 2:00 p.m., in the team's opening matchup of the GLVC Softball Championship Tournament, the conference announced this evening. It is the first time in program history that the team will appear in the league's postseason tournament.
The Lions were swept on the road at Drury earlier this season. Lindenwood was defeated in 2-1 fashion in the first matchup between the two squads, and the Panthers picked up an 8-4 win in the second game of the doubleheader.
As a team, Lindenwood held the fifth-highest batting average in the conference (.296). The Lions had the second-lowest ERA of any team in the league (2.08), and also the second-best fielding percentage (.971).
Amanda Weyh was dominant in the circle for the team with the fourth-best ERA in the GLVC at 1.37.
Whitney Wendel, a one-time GLVC Player of the Week, slugged 14 doubles which tied her for second in the conference.
