Football Hits the Road to Take on Findlay

The Lindenwood football team (1-2) will close out its non-conference schedule on Saturday with a 12:00 p.m. (11:00 a.m. CST) kickoff in Findlay, Ohio to take on the University of Findlay (2-1).

The Lions are coming off a 56-34 victory over Kentucky Wesleyan on Saturday night.  Cade Brister led the offensive attached with a total of five rushing touchdowns.  Nash Sutherlin (2) and Robert Giaimo (1) each crossed the goal line to tie a school record of eight rushing touchdowns in one game as a team.

The defensive unit compiled three interceptions on the night, as Drew Seers accounted for one interception.  Seers also had 14 tackles and 0.5 tackles for loss on the night to earn his first GLVC Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season.

Lindenwood is due for a big day in the passing game against the Oilers.  In six games in 2019, the Lions had at least one receiver eclipse the 100-yard mark.  Last week, Clint Sigg compiled 81 yards receiving, which is the highest single game total for the Lions this year.

Findlay is returning to its home field on Saturday, after a 62-41 win over Southwest Baptist.  The Oilers won their first game of the season the week prior, after taking down UNC Pembroke 34-28 in overtime. Defensively, the Oilers have allowed nearly 400 yards passing per game, with an additional 127.0 yards on the ground.

Findlay is led by quarterback, Matt Winzeler, who is averaging 243.7 yards passing per game, with a total of eight touchdown passes on the year.  Derek Lynch is leading the ground game with 364 yards rushing, for an average of 121.3 per game.

Lindenwood and Findlay have met four times prior to Saturday, as the Oilers won all four games in the 1990's.
