Olympic weightlifting qualified nine athletes for University Nationals at the Indiana WSO Championship October 8 at the Hamilton County Sports Complex in Noblesville, Indiana.
The Lions also qualified four of the nine athletes that traveled for the American Open Finals in December. Those four included
Sam Leonard,
Bri Sepulveda, James Tice, and
Scott Crosswhite. The American Open Finals is a prestigious event that draws people from all over the world as it is a key route to qualify for the Junior Pan Ams, Pan Ams, and the Olympics.
Here are the weightlifting totals for the four that qualified.
Sam Leonard - Weight Class 55kg - Snatched 73 kgs and Clean/Jerked 100kgs
Bri Sepulveda - Weight Class 55kg - Snatched 65 kgs and Clean/Jerked 88kgs
James Tice - Weight Class 109+kg - Snatched 140 kgs and Clean/Jerked 151 kgs
Scott Crosswhite - Weight Class 102kg - Snatched 130 kgs and Clean/Jerked 150kgs
The nine that qualified for University Nationals will compete March 2-5 at the Arnold in Columbus, Ohio.
Olympic weightlifting will next compete at the Iowa Championship November 5. Competition will begin at 8 a.m. on the University of Iowa campus in Iowa City, Iowa.
