Women's ACHA ice hockey went 0-2 against Liberty during the regular season, and the No. 1 seeded Flames ended the Lions run at the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Women's Division I National Championship with a 4-2 win Saturday afternoon at the Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Missouri.
Liberty jumped in front midway through the opening period and added another goal with 5:28 remaining in the first to take a 2-0 lead. The Flames continued to pressure Lindenwood and added another two goals in the middle frame to pull away. The Lions did break the shutout with a
MacKenzie White score at 16:32 of the second, and
Kennedy Frank sounded the horn with 6:23 remaining in regulation to make it 4-2, but that's as close as Lindenwood would get the rest of the game.
Liberty outshot the Lions 34 to 16, and
Emily McDonald stopped 30 of the 34 shots she faced for Lindenwood.
The Lions concluded the season with an overall record of 21-6 and a mark of 11-2 in Women's Midwest Collegiate Hockey conference action.
