Men's Lacrosse Set to Join ASUN

On Wednesday, the Lindenwood men's lacrosse program officially accepted an invitation to join the ASUN conference starting in the 2022-23 school year.

"We are incredibly excited for the next chapter of Lindenwood lacrosse, and are grateful to have found a home with the ASUN conference," said head coach Jim Lange.  "We look forward to building relationships and rivalries with our new conference counterparts."

"The ASUN is an excellent fit for our men's lacrosse program," said Interim Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics, Betsy Feutz.  "With a history of success, and Coach Lange's leadership, we are confident in our ability to have an immediate impact and positively contribute to the competitiveness of the ASUN.  It has been a pleasure working with Commissioner Gumbart, and we are excited for the future of our men's lacrosse program."

The ASUN sponsors 21 sports, including men's lacrosse which is currently made up of six teams.  The league will increase its member teams from six to nine, as Lindenwood joins Mercer and Jacksonville as the three additional schools.

"The ASUN takes great pride in expanding opportunities for regular season and postseason opportunities," ASUN Commissioner Ted Gumbart said. "Our men's lacrosse championship is five weeks away and will feature the top four of our current six programs. Next year, we will consider a move to a six-team event as we will feature nine outstanding universities in ASUN men's lacrosse.  Lindenwood will be starting its reclassification period next year, and we look forward to providing a quality experience for their men's lacrosse student-athletes.  We look forward to increasing our national significance in NCAA men's lacrosse."

The Lindenwood men's lacrosse program has put together a record of 70-36 heading into its ninth season in the NCAA this year.  The Lions made an appearance in the NCAA Tournament in 2015, after posting a program-high 14 wins since joining the NCAA.  In eight full seasons, 25 all-conference members have worn the Lindenwood uniform, including four All-Americans.

In 2015, Lindenwood head coach Jim Lange was named the Lax Magazine Coach of the Year.  The Lions compiled back-to-back Specialists of the Year in the ECAC during that same season.  The Lindenwood men's lacrosse program has seen two alumni drafted into the National Lacrosse League (NLL).
