Lindenwood softball student-athletes
Taylor Bushman and
Amanda Weyh were named CoSIDA Academic All-District following their contributions in the classroom and on the diamond this spring. This is the first such honor for both individuals.
The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in June.
Bushman graduated earlier this month with a 3.96 GPA as a Biological Sciences major. The senior hit .310 this season as the team's primary leadoff bat, while also stealing a program-record 26 bases over 30 attempts. Bushman, who started all 48 games for the Lions, led the team with eight sacrifice bunts and ranked second with 54 hits. In addition, the Seneca, Ill., product tallied a team-high 14-game hitting streak this season and finished second with 13 multi-hit contests.
Weyh, who was one of two District 4 members to maintain a perfect 4.0 GPA, just wrapped up her junior campaign as an Elementary Education major. The Mokena, Ill., native recorded the best single-season pitching performance in the team's DII era, finishing with a 1.00 ERA and .197 batting average against, both of which set new program records. Weyh also finished with a 0.83 WHIP and 183 strikeouts over 189 innings inside the circle, completing 20 games and tossing eight shutouts. The junior also contributed to the offense as a mainstay in the heart of the Lindenwood lineup, slashing .293/.383/.414 with 24 runs and 23 RBI.
