On Monday afternoon, the Ohio Valley Conference announced that Lindenwood Softball players
Kylee Crowder and
Samantha Roulanaitis have won the OVC Player and Pitcher of the Week respectively. Both Crowder and Roulanaitis led the Lions to a perfect 4-0 week, including a sweep over Southern Indiana at home over the weekend to put the Lions at 5-7 in the OVC standings.
Crowder, a 5'10 Utility player from Belleville, Ill. went 7-9 from the plate last week across four games played, and hit an incredible .778 on the week.The Senior also scored three runs, added two stolen bases, and posted an .818 on-base percentage for the week. She drove in one run and recorded a 1.000 slugging percentage, highlighted by a triple to right field in a 1-0 win over Saint Louis on Wednesday. For the week, Crowder had multi hit performances in all three games played against USI, including back-to-back 2-2 games and ended the series by going 2-3 with an RBI. This marks her first career OVC Player of the Week award in a Black and Gold uniform.
Meanwhile,
Samantha Roulanaitis had a great week in the circle as the Sophomore pitcher allowed zero runs across three appearances against SLU and USI. Her first two appearances of the week both resulted in complete game shutouts in which she carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning against the Billikens, and also carried a no-hitter into the fifth inning against USI in Saturday's OVC series opener. Roulanaitis ended her week by picking up her first career save in a 3-2 win over the Screaming Eagles and pitched the final 1.1 innings in game two of Sunday's doubleheader where she allowed just one hit in four batters faced. For the week, the Sophomore pitcher threw 15.1 innings and allowed five hits with only one walk to go along with five strikeouts.
Crowder, Roulanaitis, and the rest of the Lions will return to OVC action this weekend as they will take on Tennessee State.
