Austrian Rider Commits to Cycling Team

Head Coach Julie Carter has announced the addition of Adrian Stieger from Linz, Upper Austria to the cycling team for fall 2022.
Profile
He began riding when he was just six years old, at first mainly focusing on triathlons with his father's urging, but Stieger discovered that he wasn't the best runner, so he switched to just cycling when he was 16. He started doing cyclocross in the winter because he missed road racing during that season. He also likes to do alternative sports in the offseason.

Stieger has earned national titles in criterium and time trial events, he finished in the top five at the Nations Cup, made two podiums in international races, and earned a few wins in the Austrian Cup. His biggest goal is to compete at the World Championships, but he hopes to at least improve every year.

Stieger lists his favorite athlete as Wout van Aert.

"I like his dedication for cycling and the fact that he never gives up, even when it is not working out," Stieger explained. "The way he wins races is impressive and it never gets boring to watch him."

Stieger currently rides for the Austrian Continental Team (Team Felbermayr Simplon Weis) in the Under 23 category. He is also part of the Austrian National Team and competes in races all over Europe. You'll never find him at a bike shop because he is really good at building bikes himself. When faced with a problem, Stieger says that he can't stop thinking about it until it's solved.

Stieger just graduated from Borg Linz High School. He will arrive at Lindenwood University as a freshman majoring in Business Economics.
