Women's ACHA Ice Hockey Head Coach
Andrew Miller is pleased to announce the addition of defenseman Brynn Carter for the 2022-23 season.
Carter is originally from Atlanta, Georgia, but has lived in multiple cities in both the United States and Canada. Last season, she played with the Nashville Junior Predators and the year prior, with the St Louis AAA Lady Blues, making here familiar with the area.
Carter's hockey career began at age four, following in the footsteps of her big brothers.
"I would say my mom is the reason we all started because it was a connection from Canada that she could keep in the family while we lived in the south," Carter explained. "I played a handful of other sports growing up and even throughout high school, but I always felt that hockey was something very special to me that I wanted to pursue over everything else."
Family plays an important role in Carter's life, so it was no surprise that it impacted her decision to come to Lindenwood.
"I chose Lindenwood partially as a family connection as my brother currently attends and plays there, and my cousin was a captain on the women's team," Carter said. "I was also already familiar with St. Louis and even the Centene rink from my season with the Blues."
Coach Miller is confident about the skill set that Carter brings to the program.
"Brynn is a defenseman who comes to our program from the Nashville Predators program," he said. "She has good size and knows how to use it. Brynn is able to read the ice well and makes good decisions with the puck. She will step in and play a big role on the blueline."
Carter is looking forward to her time at Lindenwood.
"The most important thing to me that I get from my college hockey experience is many lifelong teammates and friends, and of course four successful seasons!" she said.
Carter plans to major in Social Work at Lindenwood and pursue a career in working with social services in the future. She will be wearing No. 4 on the ice this season.
