ST. CHARLES, MO. - The Lindenwood field hockey team lost 0-2 to St. Thomas Aquinas in Sparkill, New York on Friday afternoon.
"Their team had quite a few talented players with size and a ton of strength on ball," said Head Coach
Sarah Baumann. "We hustled hard but could not seem to connect between our lines and put the ball in the back of the net. When down 1-0 with 5 minutes left we pulled our goalie to give ourselves a field player advantage and we drew some good opportunities that just didn't fall for us."
The Lions put up a hard fight, and despite outshooting the St. Thomas Aquinas Spartans 8-7 throughout the game, the end result still went in favor of the home team.
Isabella Shannon had a team-leading two shots on the day, but the Spartans were the only ones who found the back of the net.Â
Kyla Cooke made four saves throughout the game, leading the tough Lion defense from in between the posts today.Â
"We will definitely do some reflection on how to connect those pieces as a team for a full game as we take on AIC on Sunday," said Baumann.
Up next, the Lions will stay in New York for a Sunday morning game against American International College at 10:00AM EDT.
