Women's Basketball Set to Face Trojans on Wednesday

ST. CHARLES, MO. - The Lindenwood women's basketball team will compete in their third OVC game when they take on Little Rock tomorrow night at 5:00 p.m. in Little Rock, Arkansas.

The Lions were most recently defeated by Tennessee Tech on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 35-72. Mary McGrath had yet another team-leading performance in the scoring and rebounding categories, tallying 11 points and grabbing eight rebounds from the Golden Eagles.

Makayla Wallace reached a new-season high despite the loss, however, knocking down seven total points to put her in the third spot on the leaderboard in that category. Emily Benzschawel was right behind McGrath in the total points category this game, knocking down nine total after heating up late in the game.

McGrath still posts the highest points per game average for the Lions with 11.2, while also boasting the highest rebounds per game average with 4.5. The Arlington Heights, Illinois native currently ranks 10th in the Ohio Valley Conference in both the points and rebounds per game categories, making her the highest ranking Lion on both of those lists. She also ranks 9th in steals per game (1.8), and 5th in minutes per game (31.0) throughout the OVC.

Another Lion taking the OVC by storm is Benzschawel, who leads the entire conference in three-point field goals per game this year, having knocked down 32 total so far to average 2.5 three-pointers per game. This is a huge contribution in the Lions now leading the conference in three-point field goals as a team with 97 total and a 7.5 per game average.

Little Rock is on a two-game win streak so far in their first OVC run as a program, defeating UT Martin in a nail-biting 45-44 in their conference opener, then turning around and downing Tennessee State on Saturday in a 64-57 victory. The Trojans are now sitting at 5-8 overall and 2-0 in the conference, posting a 4-3 mark on their home court, the Joe Foley Court which is located in the Jack Stephens Center on campus.

Freshman Faith Lee is the Trojans' leading-scorer so far this season, averaging a team-high 9.8 points per game in her collegiate debut. Meanwhile, Little Rock's leading rebounder and assister is Jaiyah Harris-Smith, who boasts 4.7 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game.
