Women's ACHA ice hockey dropped both games of a two-game series in Women's Midwest College Hockey (WMCH) action with a 5-2 loss Saturday night and a 2-1 loss Sunday afternoon at the Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Missouri.
In the series finale, the Lions took a lead in the second period, but couldn't hold it, giving up the game-winner with just over two-minutes remaining in regulation.

After half the game had ticked by on the clock, Lindenwood opened scoring with an even-strength effort from
Katelynn Weeks at 13:17 of the second, assisted by
Brynn Carter and
Ardyn Hawryshko.
The Lions held a 1-0 advantage for almost 20-minutes of game time before yielding an equalizer to the Bearcats at 12:53 in the third, and then McKendree scored again at 17:55.
The Bearcats outshot Lindenwood 38-22 and
Jordan Tung stopped 36 of the 38 shots she faced in a losing effort.
In the opening contest of the series, McKendree capitalized on multiple power play opportunities, including a 10-minute misconduct call on the Lions. However, the first goal of the game came from the Bearcats at even-strength at 5:08 of the first. A delay of game penalty led to McKendree power play goal at 14:03 and a cross-checking call resulted in another power play goal at 5:51 of the second to make it 3-0 Bearcats.
The misconduct penalty was called just over a minute later and Lindenwood faced a long stretch of defending short-handed. That was briefly evened with a two-minute minor against McKendree that gave the Lions some four-on-four time.
Ardyn Hawryshko capitalized at the 8:50 mark off a pass from
Loki Antonio and Lindenwood was on the board, but the Lions were again short-handed and the Bearcats scored their third power-play goal of the game at 11:04 to give them a 4-1 advantage.
McKendree scored midway through the third to increase the lead to 5-1 and Lindenwood made it 5-2 when Antonio sounded the horn at 16:14 on a play set up by
Madison Teague and Hawryshko.
The Bearcats outshot the Lions 34-27 and
Evi Allerding stopped 29 of the 34 shots she faced in goal for Lindenwood.
With the two losses, the Lions dropped to 0-4 overall and 0-2 in the WMCH. After an idle weekend, Lindenwood will host Midland University in another conference match-up October 26 and 29. The opening faceoff is scheduled for 4:50 p.m. Thursday afternoon and at 8:40 p.m. Sunday night at the Centene Community Ice Center.
