Women’s ACHA Hockey Swept by Midland

In an unusual series in which game two was three days after game one, women's ACHA ice hockey was swept by Midland in Women's Midwest Collegiate Hockey (WMCH) conference action, falling 3-0 Thursday afternoon and 7-0 Sunday night at the Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Missouri.

In the finale, the Warriors scored four of their seven goals on special teams, three on the power play and one short-handed while killing a penalty. Midland led 4-0 after the first period and 6-0 after the second, then added the final goal early in the third.

The Warriors outshot the Lions 50-20 and Evi Allerding stopped 43 of the 50 shots she faced in goal.

In the series opener on Thursday, Midland scored all three goals in the final 14-minutes of the second period.

The Warriors outshot Lindenwood 61-12 and Allerding turned away 58 of the pucks she saw. For the series, she faced 111 shots and stopped 101 of them for a .910 save percentage.

The Lions fell to 0-6 overall and to 0-4 in the WMCH. After an idle weekend, Lindenwood faces another tough test against the University of Michigan November 10-11. The Wolverines are currently 6-0 and have outscored opponents 22-7. The opening faceoff is scheduled for 1:40 p.m. that Friday afternoon and 8:40 p.m. that Saturday night at the Centene Community Ice Center.
