St. Charles, MO. – The Lindenwood field hockey team (3-6) team hosts VCU (9-2) on Sunday, October 8
th 12:00 p.m., at SportPort International in Maryland Heights, Mo.
The Lions are coming off a 2-0 win against Maryville in their most recent matchup, where
Alice van Hemelen and
Makenna Rugani scored goals. Players to watch for the Lions include
Mia Simpson, and van Hemelen. Simpson leads the Lions in points with seven and van Hemelen is second on the team in points with six.
Kyla Cooke and
Leah Brozovich have made starts for the Lions making a combined 53 saves on 22 goals against.
The Lions are looking to pick up their fourth win of the year.
This will be the first time in program history the Lions and Rams matchup against each other. Currently the Rams are 9-2 on the season, picking up wins against Saint Louis University and University of Massachusetts in their most recent matchups. Players to watch for the Rams include Mora Morrero, Morena Morcera, and Sherrid Messier. Morrero leads the Rams in points with 14 and Morcera is not far behind with 12 points, being the second most on the team. Messier has played in 10 games for the Rams, making 43 saves on 11 goals against.
