On Friday night, The Lindenwood women's lacrosse team (0-1) competed in their first NCAA Division I game at home falling to the California Golden Bears (1-0) by a score of 17-9.
Overview
California started off the game with the first five goals. The Lions would tally their first NCAA Division I goal late in the first, coming from a Brennan Paddy shot. The Bears would score the final goal of the quarter, ending the quarter with a lead of 6-1. In the second quarter, Lindenwood would shrink the deficit scoring four goals to Cal's three, coming from
Emma Arnold,
Logann Eldredge, and
Elisabeth Ralph goals. The Golden Bear's would control the third, scoring the first four goals of the quarter. The Lions would strike back scoring two of their own with one of them coming in the final seconds of the frame. In the fourth quarter, the Lions would score two more times to end the game, coming from
Emma Arnold and
Lexy Biller.
Arnold led the way for the Lions with four goals total, while Ralph was next with two. Both
Sam Irwin and
Lexy Biller led the Lions in assists with one.
Eleanor Kast started in goal for the Lions making nine saves.
