Emily McDonald made 37 saves out of 39 shots faced, but it wasn't enough as women's ACHA ice hockey fell to Midland 2-0 Saturday afternoon at Sidner Ice Arena in Fremont, Nebraska.
In what turned into a penalty filled game with six calls against the Lions and four calls against the Warriors, it took until the 7:29 mark of the second before a goal was scored. Midland took advantage of one of its six power play chances to get the second goal at 9:24 of the third.
The Warriors officially went 1/6 with the man-advantage while holding Lindenwood scoreless on four chances. Midland outshot the Lions 39-14 in the contest.
With the loss, Lindenwood dropped to 4-7-1 in Women's Midwest College Hockey (WMCH) action and to 5-12-1 overall. The Lions will attempt to earn a split in the series when they face the Warriors again Sunday afternoon at 12 p.m. at the Sidner Ice Arena.
