On Thursday afternoon, the Lindenwood women's lacrosse team (6-6) face-offed against Stetson University in a thriller. The Lions would come from behind to win 18-17 over the Hatters to win their first conference game.
Overview
In the first quarter, 11 total goals were scored with the Hatters leading 6-5 after the first frame. Scorers for the Lions in the first quarter included two tallies from
Logann Eldredge and one tally from
Meredith Parry,
Elisabeth Ralph, and
Natalie Gane. In the second quarter, the Hatters would control the scoring, tallying seven times while the Lions scored twice. Lions that scored in the second frame included Eldredge and Gane with the Hatters leading 13-7 into the second half.
In the third quarter, the Lions would dominate the scoring category tallying six times and holding the Hatters to two goals to trail 15-13 going into the final frame. Scorers in the third frame came from four tallies from Eldredge, and tallies from Gane and
Isabella Rulapaugh. In the fourth quarter, the Lions would start off the scoring, tallying three times in a row from Eldredge,
Emma Arnold, and Parry to gain the 16-15 lead. The Hatters would bounce back scoring one of their own to tie the game back up. Eldredge again would score once more to regain the lead for the Lions. At the 2:33 mark of the fourth quarter, the Hatters would tie the game up once more. With under a minute left, Rulapaugh would score the eventual game winner for the Lions.
Elizabeth Goth would start in net for the Lions making six saves.
Eleanor Kast would relieve Goth in the later part of the game making one save on three shots on net.
Eldredge in this match-up would break the program record in most goals in a single game with nine.
