On Tuesday, the Ohio Valley Conference announced its postseason awards and Irelynn West and Dallis Darnell of the Lindenwood softball team earned recognition. West landed on the second team all-OVC, while Darnell garnered all-newcomer status.

West leads the team in several offensive categories, including batting average (.364), hits (44), doubles (15), and slugging percentage (.488). The Kansas City, Mo. native was even stronger in OVC play, hitting .404 in 14 conference games. The sophomore outfielder was a key cog at the top of the Lindenwood lineup, starting in all 37 games she appeared in this season. She was also a threat on the base paths, swiping six bags during the year.

Darnell made an instant impact in the lineup as a freshman. The Troy product appeared in all 47 games, starting 46 of them. Darnell is hitting .248 on the year and has accumulated 31 hits, including a big walk-off single that propelled the Lions past Eastern Illinois earlier in the season.

The 2023 Ohio Valley Conference Softball Championship field is set. Southeast Missouri earned the regular season title and the No. 1 seed. Eastern Illinois is the No. 2 seed while Southern Indiana earned the third seed. UT Martin is the fourth seed followed by SIUE, Tennessee State, Lindenwood and Morehead State.

The event will be held May 10-13 at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Ala. It marks the 29th time the Championship will be held and the seventh year it will be held at the neutral site in Oxford.

Lindenwood earned the seven seen after posting a record of 16-31, including an 8-15 mark during its inaugural campaign. The Lions will take on Tennessee State in a single-elimination game on Wednesday at 10:00 am.  The entire championship will be streamed on ESPN+
