Alejandro Martinez Tapia and
Nick Hardrict, II just completed a two-week program June 25-July 8 at the Elite Athlete Training Center in Chula Vista, California as part of an Olympic development camp hosted by USA Rugby.
Martinez Tapia, who took his first leap into elite sevens rugby, was identified by USA sevens legend Ben Pinkelman in Houston, Texas at the D1A Sevens Championships back in May. His outstanding fitness and two tries in the final earned him an All-Tournament selection and punched his ticket to camp.
Nick Hardrict, II has been nursing some injuries this summer, but has been a long-time elite sevens prospect. He is at camp to stay as he continues to track with his young cohort of Olympic hopefuls with the overall development of the team.
The next opportunity to wear red, white, and blue for either student-athlete will be at Rugbytown Sevens August 25-27, the most competitive sevens tournament in America. Last year, Hardrict, II was a member of the Cup Champion U23 USA Olympic team at the event.
