The Lindenwood field hockey team (0-0, 0-0 Independent) will take on Bryant University (0-0, 0-0 America East) in their season opener on August 26th, at 1:00 pm at SportPort International in Maryland Heights, Mo.

The Lions are coming off an 8-9 season in 2022 and looking to capitalize on their success in 2022, into 2023. The Lions return three of their top five scorers from the previous slate which include Mia Simpson, Marina Evert, and Anna Clem. Simpson was second on the team in points with 17, Evert was third on the team in points with 14, and Clem coming off an eight-point season in her freshman campaign. Lions also return Leah Brozovich and Kyla Cooke in net, collectively making 92 saves on 33 goals against.

Head Coach Sarah Baumann will lead the charge for the Lions against the Bulldogs. Baumann has led the Lions field program since its inception in 2011 when Lindenwood moved to NCAA Division II and in 2022 to NCAA Division I. Baumann has gone 104-67 as the head coach of the Lions.

Lindenwood will meet Bryant for the first time in program history. The Bulldogs went (5-14, 0-8 America East) in 2022, scoring 30 goals and giving up 61. The Bulldogs are currently 0-0 on the season, returning 93 percent of their scoring from a season ago. 

Lindenwood will host Saint Louis University in their next matchup on Monday, September 4th at SportPort International at 1:00 p.m. in Maryland Heights, Mo.
