ST. CHARLES, Mo. - The Lindenwood women's rugby team (1-0) returns to the pitch on Saturday, Oct. 19th against BYU (1-0) when they travel to Provo, Utah starting at 12:00 p.m. CT. Lindenwood continues to make the transition as an emerging sport since joining the National Intercollegiate Rugby Assocaition.
WHAT TO KNOW
- Lindenwood is 3-0 all-time against BYU (15s)Â dating back to the 2019-20 season when LU won the first ever meeting 63-0.
- On average, Lindenwood scores 76 points compared to BYU who puts up just one point on average... Lindenwood has held BYU to a shutout in two of the three meetings during the 15s in the fall
- During the 2023-24 season, Lindenwood defeated the Cougars by a final score of 72-0 in a shutout... multiple Lions scored including Madison Jersey and Freda Tafuna
- Last weekend the Lions defeated Southern Nazarene by a final score of 92-7... Tafuna scored three tries and went 10/11 on conversions
- Lucia del Campo also had three tries in the victory... Lindenwood moved to 2-0 all-time against SNU while also securing their first win since the transition
- Lindenwood is coached by Trevor Locke in his third season at the helm, he is assisted by Colten Hernadez
- Freda Tafuna returns to St. Charles for her final season after taking home the Sorensen Award in 2024 (given to the best Women's College Rugby Player)
