Lindenwood Athletics Announces A Night with Red for the Black and Gold

ST. CHARLES, MO. – Lindenwood Athletics is excited to announce A Night with Red for the Black and Gold, featuring Lindenwood men's ice hockey head coach, Bill Muckalt, and the legendary former Michigan and St. Louis Blues head coach, Red Berenson. The event will be hosted on February 3, 2025, at 6:00 PM at Oliva on the Hill, 4915 Daggett Avenue, St. Louis, Mo., 63110.

"Coach Berenson is a true legend in hockey and needs no introduction to the greater St. Louis community. Red helped lead the St. Louis Blues to the Stanley Cup final as a player and later won NHL Coach of the Year. He was an innovator and pioneer in the sport of hockey. Coach had a tremendous impact on my life, being a part of two national championships at the University of Michigan is a special memory. It's a true honor to have Red Berenson as our keynote speaker," said Coach Muckalt.

Berenson a former NHLer, was a Stanley Cup Champion (1964), a six-time NHL All-Star, played in 987 games, and registered 658 career points (261g-397a) in 17 years, dating back from 1961 to 1978, playing for the Montréal Canadiens, New York Rangers, St. Louis Blues, and the Detroit Red Wings. After his stint as a player, Berenson coached in the NHL for the Blues for three seasons (1979-82), posting a 100-72-0-32 record, winning the Jack Adams Award (Coach of the Year) in 1980-81, and appeared in the playoffs twice (1979-80, 1980-81).

Red would move on from the NHL, and continue his coaching career at the college ranks, coaching at his alma mater, the University of Michigan for 33 years (1984-2017). Red would become one of the winningest coaches in college hockey, registering 848 wins, and would be one of four coaches in the NCAA's history to collect 800 career wins. Berenson helped lead the Wolverines to 22 consecutive appearances in the NCAA Tournament from 1991-2012, marking the longest streak in college hockey history, and would win two national championships in 1996 and 1998.

Join us for an unforgettable evening, and don't miss out on this unique opportunity to hear from two of hockey's most respected figures.
