The men's and women's bowling teams have been assigned to the Fort Worth, Texas Sectional by the USBC – Collegiate. The tournament is one of four across the country taking place March 8-10 and is the first step of the collegiate bowling post-season.
The Lady Lions finished the regular season ranked No. 14 in the USBC – Collegiate power rankings and will be one of 18 women's teams competing in Fort Worth with the goal of finishing in the top four to advance to the Intercollegiate Team Championships (ITC) in April. The field is highlighted by Wichita State (No. 2), Louisiana Tech (No. 7 NCAA Power Index), Ottawa (Kan.) (No. 8), St. Ambrose (No. 9), Tulane (No. 13 NCAA Power Index) and Newman (No. 14 NCAA Power Index), in addition to Lindenwood.
The Lions finished the regular season with the No. 21 power ranking and are among 22 squads in the men's field, which is highlighted by Wichita State, the top team nationally in the power rankings. St. Ambrose (No. 6), Newman (No. 9), Oklahoma Christian (No. 16), and Grand Canyon (No. 18) are among the other top seeds that will by vying for a spot at the ITC.
In addition to Forth Worth, Sectionals are also scheduled in Allen Park, Michigan; Addison, Illinois; and Smyrna, Tennessee. Competition begins March 8 with singles Sectionals, followed by team Sectionals March 9-10. The team event will include 32 baker games each day Saturday and Sunday with the top four teams in pin fall at each location advancing to the ITC in Louisville, Kentucky April 18-20 for a shot at the national title. The top singles performers based on field size at each Singles Sectional (24 total nationally) will advance to the Intercollegiate Singles Championship (ISC) April 15-16 at the same location.
The top 80 eligible men's teams and top 80 eligible women's teams received an invitation to Sectionals. The complete field for all four team Sectionals is listed below:
