Mike Anderson has earned a spot on the Junior Team USA bowling squad for 2025. The returning junior shot 2849 for 14 games (203.5 average) to finish third in qualifying among 86 eligible players at the 2024 U22 Masters May 24-27 at Thunderbowl Lanes in Allen Park, Michigan. champion were named to the team.
Anderson advanced as the No. 7 seed for match play in the overall field of 151. He went 1-2 in two-game total pins matches, getting knocked out by just 15 pins 398-383 in the third round.
He becomes the 13
th Lindenwood bowler to earn a spot on Junior Team USA. Age-eligible athletes at the event included all those who will still be under 21 on January 1, 2025. The team includes a total of 18 girls and 18 boys and competes in several prestigious events all over the world including the World Youth Championships and Pan-American Games to name a few.
Several other Lions competed in the U22 Masters or U22 Queens. On the men's side, former player
Drew Sacks shot 2671 (190.79 average) to tie for 39
th, missing the top 32 cut for match play by just 16-pins. Graduate student
Callum Stewart also competed, but missed the cut as well.
Returning junior
Hailey Bozych advanced to U22 Queens match play as the No. 22 seed after shooting 2670 (190.71 average). She then went 3-2 in match play to essentially finish tied for seventh overall. In her final match, she lost 524-458 to eventual winner and Florissant, Missouri resident Dannielle Henderson, firing the highest two-game losing total in all of match play. Bozych was coming off a second-place finish last month at the Intercollegiate Singles Championships.
