Men’s Lacrosse Falls Short to Detroit Mercy 12-8

ST. CHARLES, MO. – On Saturday, men's lacrosse took on Detroit Mercy in their fifth conference game of the year. The Lions would drop the matchup against the Titans 12-8.

GAME OVERVIEW
In the first quarter, Lindenwood would go up 2-0 early, coming from a pair of goals by Flint Thielen. At 7:02, Detroit Mercy would find their first goal of the game on a man-up opportunity. Adrian Thompson at 3:48 would score for the Lions assisted by Connor Engel, to put the Lions back up two. Lindenwood's two goal lead would be short-lived with the Titans scoring at 3:04. After a quarter of play, Lindenwood would lead 3-2.

In the second quarter, Detroit Mercy would score seven straight in the frame. The Titans would hold the Lions scoreless in the period, with the Lions trailing 9-3, after one half of play.

In the third quarter, Lindenwood would break their scoreless drought at 8:17 coming from an Immanuel Brown on a man-up opportunity. Evan Mason would tally his first goal of the game at 3:13 for the Lions, cutting the Titans lead to four. Strong defensively play would by the Lions would the Titans scoreless in the third quarter. With one final quarter left to go, Lindenwood would trail the Titans 9-5.

In the fourth quarter, Evan Mason would cut the Lions deficit to three at 14:28. Detroit Mercy would score a pair at 11:43 and 10:32, extending their lead back to five. Lindenwood would answer back scoring a pair, bring back the deficit to three, coming from Jack Martinez and John Dahl. With 42 seconds left, Detroit would score the final goal of the game, extending their lead to four.

After this matchup, Lindenwood moved to 0-8 on the year and 0-5 in conference play. AJ Preachuk got the nod in net making 11 saves. In the matchup, Dahl scored his first career goal as a Lion. Thielen led Lindenwood in scoring with three points off two goals and one assist.
