Preview
The Lindenwood women's soccer team travels across the river to take on SIUE on Thursday night in an OVC matchup. Lindenwood and SIUE share a long regional history dating back to 1982. The Cougars lead the all-time series 11-6-2, though the Lions have won two of the last three meetings, including a 2-0 victory last season at Hunter Stadium. Thursday's match is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. CT.

Last Time Out
The Lions came up short on Sunday, falling 4-1 to Tennessee Tech at Hunter Stadium. The Lions got on the board just before halftime when Lily Sutter buried a penalty kick in the 44th minute, cutting the deficit to 2-1 heading into the break. Despite generating 13 total shots and five on target, Lindenwood couldn't complete the comeback as the Golden Eagles added a pair of goals in the second half.

Notes to Know
OFFENSE: Lindenwood has taken 162 total shots this season, ranking third in the OVC, and has found the back of the net 14 times.

PIECE BY PIECE: Half of Lindenwood's 14 goals have come on set pieces, highlighted by an OVC-leading four penalty-kick goals. The Lions rank second in the conference with 60 corner kicks.

SPREADING THE WEALTH: Lindenwood continues to display balance in its attack, with eight different players finding the back of the net this season. Anna Johnson and Allison Schrumpf lead the way with three goals each, while Mackenzie Compton and Tasneem Dizdarevic have added two apiece.

LEADERS: Johnson leads the team with eight points, while Schrumpf has added seven points. Compton paces the Lions with 34 shots. In goal, Caroline Ritter ranks third in the OVC with a .808 save percentage.

DEFENSE: Lindenwood has allowed 14 goals through 12 matches, ranking third in the OVC defensively. The Lions have recorded six shutouts this season, while Ritter ranks fourth in the conference with 59 saves.

WINNING THE WHISTLE: The Lions have shown discipline in possession, drawing 144 fouls while committing just 93 on the year. That margin has helped Lindenwood generate extra set-piece opportunities and maintain one of the cleaner defensive records in the OVC.

OVC AT A GLANCE: Lindenwood is still near the top of the OVC tied for fourth with Little Rock with six points, while Eastern Illinois continues to hold the lead with 12 points. Southern Indiana and Tennessee Tech now have a tie for second place with eight points.

SIUE
  • SIUE enters Thursday's matchup tied for sixth in the OVC with four points and a 1-2-1 conference record. After battling through an early eight-game losing streak, the Cougars have shown signs of momentum in recent weeks, earning a scoreless draw with Tennessee Tech and a 3-2 victory over Western Illinois. Offensively, SIUE has netted 12 goals through 13 matches, ranking sixth in the league, while defensively, the Cougars have conceded 33 goals, the third-highest total in the conference.
  • The Cougars feature a balanced attack with four players recording multiple goals this season. Savannah DeFini leads the team with three goals and six points, followed by Amanda Dean, Aleah Minehart, and Alayna Hauser, who have each found the net twice. In goal, Sarah Bozeman has started nearly every match for SIUE, posting a .688 save percentage, which ranks near the bottom of the OVC.
  • SIUE is led by 17th-year head coach Derek Burton, who has guided the program since 2008.
