Lindenwood stumbled on the road last weekend dropping both matchups to Minnesota State Mankato by scores of 4-0 and 3-2.
Michaela Paulinyova and
Lucie Quarto both scored their first career goals in the 3-2 loss, while
Maegan Cronan,
Maddie Slocum, and
Tatem Starlight-Yellowfly picked up their first assists of the season.
In both games against the Mavericks,
Lexington Secreto and
Madison Bowtell each stopped 30 or more shots. Secreto recorded another career-high performance on Friday making 41 saves, while Bowtell had 34 saves in Saturday's contest. The goaltenders for the Lions have combined for a total of 221 saves through six games, which leads the country.
The penalty kill unit has also been solid for Lindenwood, allowing just three goals on 22 power play attempts (86.4%).
About Merrimack
The Warriors come into the series with the Lions with an overall record of 1-2-1. Their lone win of the season came on September 27 as they defeated Clarkson University by a score of 5-3 at home. Merrimack is a balanced squad with five different skaters each having four points on the season, and three having two goals and two assists. Forward McKenzie Cerrato leads the Warriors in +/- with a +3 and has scored two goals through the first four games.
Last season, Merrimack College compiled a record of 9-23-4 with two of their wins coming against the Lions.
