Notes To Know
2024 REVIEW: The Lions posted a 23-11 overall record a season ago, going 14-4 in conference play to finish second in the OVC regular season standings before winning the conference tournament to claim the program's first league championship of the Division-I era. Five Lions were named All-OVC, including four first-teamers, while
Will Condon was named OVC Coach of the Year.
PREDICTED ORDER OF FINISH: The 2025 OVC Preseason Poll was released last week with Lindenwood tabbed to finish second with 160 points and a first-place vote. Southeast Missouri was picked to win the league with a total of 194 points and 15 first-place votes, while Tennessee Tech came in at a close third with 160 total points and six first-place votes. Morehead State (148) and Little Rock (132) rounded out the top five.
PLAYER TO WATCH:
Ashley Geluck was selected as Lindenwood's OVC Player to Watch. Geluck started in all 34 matches for the Lions last season at middle blocker. She led the team with 95.0 total blocks, which included 29 solo rejections. She was also a force offensively, posting 268 kills (2.09 kills per set) while hitting .250.
DEPARTING PRODUCTION: The Lions lost all four of their 2024 First Team All-OVC selections, including OVC Setter of the Year
Allie Otten, who was responsible for nearly 80% of Lindenwood's assists last season. The Lions also lost their top three dig leaders and kills leader
Nyah Wilson.
BAX FOR MORE: 2024 OVC Freshman of the Year
Autumn Bax is Lindenwood's only returning All-OVC performer from last season's team. Bax was second on the team with 329 kills and ranked fifth in League play in kills per set (3.36) while hitting .268. She added 47 digs and 26 blocks to total 237.0 points on the season.
NEWCOMERS: Lindenwood added five new players to this year's roster, including four freshmen (
Shannon Monahan,
Kylee Richey,
Greta Shadewald, and
Blair Sitton) and one transfer (
Alayna Rudebeck).
Scouting Report
UNC Wilmington: Friday's contest will be the first for the Seahawks under the leadership of head coach Lo Hoyer. UNCW posted a 7-17 overall record last season, but this year's squad features nine newcomers. They return 2024 assist leader Noe Gaeta (387), as well as Sarah Thompson, who was first on the team in service aces (32), second in digs (200), and third in kills (133).
NC Central: It is also a new era for the Eagles, who will be seeing their first action under the direction of head coach Jonathan Paulk. NCCU returns 11 players off last year's team, which posted a record of 7-19. The Eagle attack is headlined by Kamren Harper, who ranked fifth in the MEAC in kills per set and sixth in points per set last season. They also return 2023 All-MEAC selection Loren Johnson, who averaged 3.64 digs per set during an injury shortened 2024 campaign.
Virginia Tech: The Hokies posted an overall record of 7-23 last season. They lost their 2024 leaders in kills, assists, and digs, but return blocks leader Jordan Hallman (114.0). The Hokies roster features some familiar foes, including former SIUE outside hitter Ainsley Ranstead and former Omaha libero Erica Favo, who the Lions faced in the NIVC a season ago,
